In every home in Switzerland an average of 162 litres of water is used per day. Whenever we need it, it is available, in the kitchen, in the bath, in the garage or in the garden. We only need to turn a tap and the water flows out - as much as we need. It costs so little that most of us do not even know how much it actually costs.
In Zimbabwe it is not as simple as that and not as cheap. According to the geological conditions water would be available. But unfortunately the infrastructure to gather water for the people is very poor. A lot of regions in the countryside do not have one watertap. People often need to walk a few miles every day to bring back water from a river or a pond - usually in a jug. Because they often share the water of these ponds with animals, infections and other illnesses can occur.
Here SwiZimAid can help. For about 8'000 Swiss Francs a waterpump can be installed either in a village or a hospital. This brings the water closer to the people - water which can be used to drink, wash and enables a better life.
Thank you in advance for helping to make reality of Zimbabwe's dreams.
